NEW YORK -- Eight people were injured Thursday when fire broke out in the ground-floor restaurant of a Rockefeller Center building and shot up a duct, sparking an explosion near the roof of the skyscraper, fire officials said.
None of the injuries was serious, and fire investigators were trying to determine the cause.
The blast in a duct on the 33rd floor of the Time Warner building shortly after 7 p.m. rattled windows and startled pedestrians crowding the area to view the famous Christmas tree.
